Leopards are among the most elusive of the Big Five, and spotting one in the wild is always a highlight for safari guests.
In the Serengeti, leopards often seek refuge in trees to escape the heat of the day or to guard their prey from lions and hyenas. Their unique behavior and striking beauty make them one of the most photographed animals on safari.

Black Rhino – A Rare Treasure of Ngorongoro Crater
On the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania, I was fortunate to capture this rare sight: the endangered black rhino grazing in its natural habitat. Unlike elephants or lions, rhinos are far more difficult to encounter on safari, making every sighting an extraordinary privilege.
The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the few places in East Africa where these magnificent animals still roam freely. Their presence is a powerful reminder of the importance of conservation and the delicate balance of Tanzania’s ecosystems.

Hyenas in Northern Tanzania – Masters of Survival
During my safaris across Northern Tanzania, from Tarangire National Park to the Ngorongoro Crater and the endless plains of the Serengeti, hyenas have always been a fascinating species to observe. These intelligent predators are often misunderstood, yet they play a vital role in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem.
While hyenas can be found throughout Tanzania’s national parks, the largest populations are seen in the Serengeti, where they follow the movements of the Great Migration. Watching a clan work together to hunt or defend their territory is one of the most powerful safari experiences.

Lion Cub in the Serengeti – Curiosity of a Future King
This lion cub resting on a kopje (rock formation) is a reminder that even the kings of the savannah start small. Cubs are often seen climbing rocks, or watching their surroundings with wide, curious eyes — moments that touch every safari traveler’s heart.
The Serengeti is home to some of the largest lion populations in Africa, making it one of the best places on the continent to observe these majestic animals in their natural environment. Watching a cub grow, stumble, and explore the wild is not only adorable, but also a glimpse into the cycle of life that defines Tanzania’s wilderness.
