Frequently Asked Questions — Lyoseko Safaris Tanzania

Planning a private safari in Tanzania? Here are the most common questions I get from guests traveling to Arusha, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti. If you don’t find your answer, just send me a message — I’m happy to help.

Who is behind Lyoseko Safaris Tanzania?

I’m Jackson Jayden Lyoseko, a professional safari guide based in Arusha, Tanzania. I personally guide most safaris and design tailor-made itineraries across the Northern Circuit. For smooth communication and planning, we’re supported by a dedicated Dutch back-office team.

Do you offer private safaris only?

Yes. Lyoseko focuses on 100% private safaris — your own 4×4 vehicle, your own guide, and a flexible pace tailored to you.

Which parks and places do you cover in Northern Tanzania?

We specialize in Tanzania’s Northern Safari Circuit: Arusha, Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Karatu, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area & Crater, and the Serengeti (Central, West, North or Ndutu depending on season).

Can you customize my Tanzania safari itinerary?

Absolutely. Every safari is tailor-made around your travel dates, interests, budget and preferred lodge style. I’ll advise the best route for your season and priorities.

Do you offer mid-range and luxury safari options?

Yes. We plan mid-range, comfort and luxury safaris — always private and personal. Recommendations depend on season and availability.

What’s included in a Lyoseko safari quote?

Your quote is transparent. Typically included are a private 4×4 safari vehicle, your guide, accommodation, meals (as specified), and applicable park & conservation fees. Inclusions and exclusions are always listed in your itinerary and invoice.

Are park fees and conservation fees included (Serengeti & Ngorongoro)?

In most tailor-made packages, yes — and your quote always shows it clearly. Tanzania has different fee types (park entry, conservation fees, concession fees, crater service fees), and we list them transparently depending on your route.

Why do Tanzania safari prices vary so much?

Prices vary mainly due to season, park fees, and accommodation category. Staying deeper inside the Serengeti or within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area can be higher priced, but may reduce drive time.

Is a deposit required to confirm my booking?

Yes. A deposit is required to secure lodge and camp reservations. The deposit amount and deadlines are stated on your invoice. The remaining balance is paid before arrival (deadline shown on your invoice).

When is the final payment due?

The final payment deadline is always shown on your invoice and booking confirmation. This timing can vary by season and lodge policy, so we communicate it clearly before you confirm.

How does the booking process work step-by-step?

(1) You share your dates and wishes, (2) I send a tailor-made itinerary + quote, (3) we fine-tune together, (4) you confirm and pay the deposit, (5) we secure lodges and send your final travel details.

Where do we meet on the first day (Arusha / JRO airport)?

Most guests start with pickup in Arusha or at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Your exact meeting point and timing are confirmed in writing based on your arrival details.

Do I need a visa to travel to Tanzania?

Yes — most travelers need a tourist visa for Tanzania. In many cases, you can apply online (e-Visa) or obtain a visa on arrival. Requirements depend on nationality and may change, so please verify the latest rules with official Tanzanian government sources or your local embassy before travel.

How many game drives do we do per day?

Typically we do a morning and afternoon game drive. In the Serengeti we can also plan a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch if you prefer. Plans may be affected by park rules, weather and road conditions.

Can we do sunrise or full-day game drives in the Serengeti?

Often yes. Sunrise and full-day game drives depend on your itinerary, park regulations and practical conditions. I’ll advise what makes sense for your dates and location.

Will we see the Big Five on safari?

Tanzania offers excellent chances — especially in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater — but wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed. Animals are wild and their movements change daily.

Can you arrange a Great Migration safari?

Yes. The Migration moves with rainfall and grazing, so exact locations can change. I’ll recommend the best areas (like Ndutu, Central Serengeti, or North Serengeti) based on your travel dates and seasonal patterns.

Do you offer hot air balloon safaris?

Yes — balloon safaris can be arranged in the Serengeti through licensed operators and are subject to availability and weather conditions.

Can I add cultural or active experiences?

Yes. Around Arusha and Karatu, you can add experiences like a coffee plantation tour, cycling, village walks or canoeing (where permitted). We use trusted local partners and the final schedule depends on availability.

Are safaris suitable for families with children?

Yes. I often guide families and adjust the safari rhythm. Some lodges have age policies, so I’ll advise the best options based on your children’s ages.

Is it safe to travel in Tanzania?

Tanzania is generally considered a safe destination for travelers, especially on organized routes like the Northern Circuit. As with any destination, common-sense precautions are recommended.

Do I need vaccinations or malaria tablets for Tanzania?

Health advice depends on your personal situation and travel history, so please consult your doctor or travel clinic for up-to-date medical guidance.

Do you recommend travel insurance and medical evacuation cover?

Yes. I strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance. Many guests also choose AMREF Flying Doctors for medical evacuation coverage. Always review policy details to ensure it fits your needs.

Is an eSIM useful in Tanzania?

Yes. An eSIM helps avoid high roaming costs. Signal can be limited in remote areas (especially deep Serengeti), but it helps a lot in towns and many lodges.

Can I use a hair dryer in lodges and camps?

In many lodges and camps, hair dryers are not allowed because properties run mainly on solar power and the electricity network has limited peak capacity.

Is tipping expected in Tanzania? How much is normal?

Tipping is customary and appreciated. There is no fixed rule — it depends on trip length and service. If you’d like, we can share a simple guideline based on your itinerary (guide, camp staff, porters).

What should I pack for a Tanzania safari?

Pack light layers and neutral colors: breathable clothing, a warm layer for mornings, a hat, sunscreen and comfortable shoes. If you’d like, I can share our full Tanzania Safari Checklist.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation terms depend on lodge policies and season. We share the exact conditions in your booking confirmation and Terms & Conditions. If anything changes, please inform us as early as possible — we’ll always try to help where we can.

How do I request a quote with Lyoseko Safaris Tanzania?

Use the Request a Quote form and share your dates, number of guests and wishes. I’ll respond personally with a tailor-made itinerary and a clear price breakdown. Asante sana.
